What they're saying about Mike...

Rarely do we have an opportunity to be in the presence of a true visionary. Mike is certainly one of the most impressive health experts of his generation. Both the quality and quantity of his work is unsurpassed, a rare combination of knowing what to say and how to say it makes him the "real deal". With obesity-related diseases as the number-one health problem in America today, Mike is clearly a man who can make a difference in the future health of our nation. We will all do well to listen to him!

Mike is one of the most knowledgeable individuals I know when it comes to exercise training and nutrition. He has spent the last 8 years studying and conducting research in the area of exercise training, weight loss programs, and metabolism. Mike uses the latest scientific research to provide non-biased information on exercise and nutrition.

When Dakota made the Jr. Hurricanes AA Pee Wee hockey team, I needed some advice on what kind of training would be appropriate for an 11 year old. I had researched and found different pros and cons on training for kids. Mike was an exceptional hockey player for ECU and I knew of his background and knowledge of coordinating training programs. Mike worked with my son for off ice conditioning and was very inspirational to Dakota's success this past season.

After many years of poor eating habits and neglecting to maintain myself physically, I decided to get healthy. I did manage - albeit struggle - to successfully lose a little weight on my own, but it wasn't until I met Mike that I was able to maximize my weight-loss and put on some muscle mass. After promptly demystifying a few of the prevalent nutrition and fitness myths circulating in all of our email inboxes, on the internet, and on mid-day television talk shows, Mike personally designed an easy-to-follow list of eating tips (he even taught me grocery shopping ideas and cleaned out my pantry!) and exercise regimen for me to follow. My body reacted almost immediately! His approach to health and nutrition isn't forceful or in-your-face; simply, Mike motivates, inspires, and, most importantly, educates.

There's an old saying: give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Mike's lessons will stay with me forever, providing the tools and education to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Thanks to Mike, I've lost 65lbs of fat, gained 15lb of muscle, and, the best part, haven't given up eating any of my favorite foods. Mike's dedication to his clients and his own example of great living through healthy lifestyle is unsurpassed. I truly believe that there is no better resource in the industry for down-to-earth nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle change information than Mike.

Mike has the academic knowledge and practical experience of a true exercise physiology professional, yet what may be more impressive is his rare ability to clearly and easily explain physiological concepts associated with health, fitness, and athletic performance for any audience.

Before I got married in 2005, I was a regular gym-goer. I wanted to make sure I looked good in my wedding dress! Once the wedding was over, however, I just stopped going. I spent the next year and a half coming up with excuses not to go. I needed some motivation and a good, solid shove in the right direction.

I called Mike and enlisted his help. He was the person I knew I could go to in order to get myself back on track. In February, I asked for his help and by May I already felt like a new person. The plan he gave me was easy to follow and didn’t take up every ounce of spare time I had!! I lost 4 inches in my waist, my arms are toned, my thighs don’t touch any more, and I can run up a flight of stairs without getting winded. I have more energy than I’ve had in years and a renewed sense of self-confidence that I missed so much! I did all of it the right way and I was able to change my lifestyle with Mike’s help!

Mike has been exceptional in coordinating a world-class training program within my busy lifestyle. Incorporating his knowledge of metabolism & fitness into my everyday way of living has allowed me to become healthier and to excel in achieving my goals. I went from hardly being able to run a 5K to completing various triathlons and my 1st marathon. With my new confidence and the guidance from Mike, I look forward to many more years of competitive events, an unparallel approach to health and nutrition and a lifetime goal of completing my first Ironman Triathlon in September 2008.

Mike has been paramount in helping me achieve my fitness goals over the past two years. With his personalized workouts and eating regimens tailored to my individual body-type and lifestyle, I have been able to cut fat and build everyday usable muscle mass. Mike's advice and expertise are welcome breaks from the usual muscle-mag 'one size fits all' workouts that so many of us fall victim to, thus spending hours in the gym with minimal results.

I had always been fairly thin. When I joined the Air Force in 1991, I weighed 138 pounds. After the Air Force, I kept my weight down, until I turned 30. At this point, something about my body changed, and before I knew it, I was 215 pounds!! I couldn’t believe that number when I looked at the scale. It was astonishing!

I asked Mike for some advice, and he helped me develop a plan that included nutrition and exercise, and it changed the way I think about fitness. I have lost 50 pounds, and I feel better than I’ve ever felt!
